you know. i have had dozens of blonde moments in my life. like the time when i went up a down escalator. or the time i picked up a call going "Waaaaaaasup!" thinking it was a friend but finding out that it was my mother on the other line. many many blonde moments.
one of these blonde moments now include me not getting my lovely uziela.blogspot.com on track cos well... i forgot my username and password. and for some idiotic reason, it's not connected to any of my email accounts and therefore it is just there but i am simply unable to get to it. sad sad blonde.
i've been watching gilmore girls again. the fast-paced talking, the acceptable sarcasm, the witty remarks. i simply adore this show to no end. the gilmore marathon will know no end! one particular episode made me connect to one of the Lorelais. the no dating one. similar to rory (prior season 4) i've never been on a date. i had
I never knew the whole dress-up and prepare notes of witty conversations that come with being on a date. With psychedelico it's always been a group outing where i shamelessly flirt with him to get my drawing for my work done. yes shameless i know, but i've never been much of an artist.
we've never been on planned one-on-one dates beginning with questions like the "hey, wanna go dinner saturday night?" or "you free this friday" which would give me at least the whole week to fret on my clothes and hair and what-nots, while i giggle and give long-cast looks to him across my friends (or so portrayed in TVs and movies).
instead, the only two dates i got together with him one-on-one was
1. a trip to Bishan which he called at 8pm - way past my curfew that time - where i begged my dad to let me go see my 'friend' to 'pass "HER" some notes on the day's lecture cos there will be a test the next day' -YEAH RIGHT.... I can't remember what we did at Bishan - who the hell does ANYTHING at Bishan anyway?? - but i remembered him berating me on how we could have taken the MRT one stop instead of taking the bus which took 15 whole minutes thus resulting in closed shops and wasted time.
2. Valentine's day. Now before i tell you this story you have to understand the situation. I've already gotten news that psychedelico was madly in love with me and i was thinking what the heck, he's kinda cute anyhow. so i really expected him to ask me out for valentine's. but as the day drew nearer, he didn't give a shit about it. i dropped hints that i was gonna spend my valentine's alone (pathetic i know) but still no hints. so valentine's came and he wasn't even dressed up, had no candy, no flowers, nothing for the girl that he obviously fawns over. how pathetic is that i tell you? so we went about our usual ways, hung out with the rest of the gang after school and took the train back.
i was pretty hung up. thought it'll be my first valentine's you know. so while i pretending to laugh and smile and joke with him, inside i was cursing my heart out. "you pathetic lil creature you... how dare you kept my hopes up? you vile evil...." "you wanna drop at woodlands for a while?" "...OK!"
He said he needed some skates shoes or whatever but i knew the shoe shop was closed. it was 9.45pm. the whole mall was closing soon - every sane person knew that! but i went along, acted surprised when we 'found out' the shop was closed and step jual mahal by buying my own ice cream when he offered to pay. we sat down on the floor at the side entrance of the mall, shared a fag and laughed and flirted a little - i remembered him promising to help me draw my next project (yesh!) - and we went on home.
no dearies, no dinner (unless you count paid-for ice cream), no flowers, no movies, no goodnight kisses on the cheek, mouth or anywhere else. it was basically whatever we did when we were with the group. several group outings and a confession later, we officially got together and became the most sickening couple you've ever met. so sickening some of our friends couldn't stand us.
Well 5 years 6 months and 5 days after, i don't regret never dating. cos it's harder to find love when you are fussing over date notes.
